1938 brings violent anti-Semitic riots to Nazi Germany--and sudden unexplained paralysis to the legs of Brooklyn Jewish housewife Sylvia Gellburg (Margot Leicester, Touching Evil). As Dr. Harry Hyman (Mandy Patinkin, Chicago Hope) investigates her condition, he learns of her fears for the Jews, and for her marriage to Phillip (Henry Goodman, Notting Hill), whose loathing of his Jewishness has extended not only to his position in a WASP bank, but to their bedroom. Determined to restore both health and marriage for the Gellburgs, Dr. Hyman must strip away yearning, sexual denial, guilt and social injustice if he is to bring them face-to-face with themselves. The results are both uplifting and tragic in this moving film version of distinguished American playwright, Arthur Miller's award-winning psychodrama.
