Lynley and Havers unravel a classic case of murder.

Eugenie Martin, long-estranged from her son Gideon, a brilliant violinist, falls victim to foul play in a particularly grisly manner. On the same evening far across London, Gideon suffers a paralyzing case of stage fright. Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) and his partner, Barbara Havers (Sharon Small), are dispatched by DSI Webberley himself to solve the crime.

Lynley is feeling a little extra pressure with this assignment. Havers may be resigning from the force after her recent demotion, and Lynley's first boss, David Leach, joins the investigation with a chip on his shoulder and a powerful obsession to quickly solve the case.

While an obvious suspect soon becomes available, Lynley and Havers are certain the truth is more complicated. Is there some connection between Eugenie's death and Gideon's sudden inability to play even the simplest tune on his violin? What was in the envelope DS Leach stole from Eugenie's flat? Why are Eugenie's files missing from the General Registry? And most puzzling of all: why does Webberley seem to have such a personal interest in the case?

Based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth George, A Traitor to Memory is a veritable symphony of mystery and intrigue.

Reviews

"... these stories are put together with a sure and steady hand ... Nathaniel Parker is fittingly suave as the elegant policeman, while Sharon Small makes a zippy, defiant sidekick." -- Sunday Times
"...fully worthy of the Mystery! label." -- The Wall Street Journal
