God Fights Back explores the resurgence of conservative, religiously based values in America in the late 1970s through the 1980s. It reveals how society was forced to confront powerful religious leaders who wanted to guide government with "God on their side."

In America, the Christian Right became a potent political force, fighting against America's "moral decline," rallying against those deemed less holy, and dominating the Republican party platform. Its impassioned supporters drew Church and State closer together than at any time in recent memory.
