A student’s school day is filled with physical movement, making neuromotor function critically important. This video is about neuromotor functions, or the connections between the brain and various muscle groups, and how they affect motor performance. Highlighted throughout are many ways that poor neuromotor function can impede performance as well as practical strategies that teachers and parents can use to help children strengthen their neuromotor abilities. The video introduces the four areas of neuromotor function—gross motor, fine motor, graphomotor and musical motor—then focuses on children and early adolescents struggling with gross motor and graphomotor functions.
