This video shows children and early adolescents struggling to behave in acceptable ways in classroom and home situations and explores behavioral problems that may stem from a student’s poor performance in school. The video offers practical strategies that teachers and parents can use to help children manage inappropriate behaviors such as acting out, anger and aggression and difficulties with social skills—all behaviors that can interfere with academic and social success. Viewers will gain insights into these challenges and how they relate to breakdowns in the neurodevelopmental functions of attention, memory, language and social cognition. Dr. Levine, other experts, teachers, parents and students themselves discuss observations of children’s behavioral problems and suggest strategies to successfully address them.
